ABOUT BRNS:
BRNS (Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences) is an autonomous body under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. It funds and promotes research in nuclear science, engineering, and related fields to support India’s atomic energy program.
Its Function includes Collaborations – Works with universities, national institutes, and R&D organizations and Fellowships & Awards are also available – Offers grants, fellowships, and awards to encourage innovation in nuclear sciences. They conduct Symposia & Conferences – Organizes scientific meetings and workshops to advance nuclear research.
Eligibility for Funding:
Proposals should align with nuclear science, engineering, or applications
Open to researchers from universities, IITs, IISc, and other research institutions.
Title of project: Design and Control of Highly Efficient Thyristor Guided Hybrid Converter for Bulk Power Transmission
Qualifications: Essential: First Class B.E. or B.Tech. in Electrical or Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Equivalent with GATE/NET
DESIRABLE: M.E./MTech
Emoluments: JRF: Rs. 37,000/- p.m. (for first two years) SRF: Rs. 42,0001- p.m. (for the third year)&
& JRF may be promoted to SRF subjected to satisfactory performance during the initial 2 years.
Duration: 3 years (The selected candidate will be encouraged to register for the Ph.D. program at IIT
Roorkee as per institute norms)
Job description: Design of new power electronic converter for HVDC applications, development and
validation of the hardware prototype of the designed converter.
